Healthcode integration: insurer invoices that leave the patient record and come back with a status

Healthcode is the clearing service UK private practices use to send invoices to insurers such as Bupa, AXA, Aviva and Vitality. Capra connects to Healthcode during onboarding so an invoice raised on the patient record is submitted to Healthcode, its status comes back to the same record, and payments reconcile to your accounts without anyone re-typing a claim.

Plain terms

What moves between Capra and Healthcode

The three things every connection should spell out: what moves, in which direction, and how quickly you can see it.

What moves

Invoices with the patient, insurer, policy and pre-authorisation details and the codes your practice uses, out to Healthcode; acknowledgements, queries and remittance back to the invoice on the record.

Which direction

Out from Capra when an invoice is raised, and back from Healthcode as each invoice is received, queried or paid. Reception sees the status beside the appointment rather than in a separate portal.

How fast, and how visible

Invoices go when they are raised or in the batches you set, status updates land as Healthcode sends them, and every exchange is logged in the audit trail with who raised what and when.

How it works

How the Healthcode connection gets built

Built for you during onboarding, with one named lead from the scoping call to go-live and human support in UK and UAE hours afterwards.

Scoping call

Your onboarding lead maps what your clinic sends to and receives from Healthcode, which fields on the record feed it, and who sees the results.

Build and test with your data

We build the connection, test it with you against sample records and walk through what moved before anything goes live.

Go live with monitoring

The connection goes live with every exchange logged and visible in your audit trail, and your onboarding lead stays your contact in UK and UAE hours.

Healthcode is named here as a system Capra connects to. Like every record, accounting, claims and exchange connection, it is scoped and built with you during onboarding rather than left for the clinic to work out.

Security & reliability

Built for healthcare, trusted with patient data

Defence in depth, from the first message to the last record. This is how we operate, not a badge.

Encrypted in transit and at rest

Connections use current TLS with HSTS, and stored data is encrypted with keys managed by our cloud provider.

Least-privilege, role-based access

Permissions come from defined roles, privileged access needs multi-factor authentication, and rights are reviewed regularly.

Monitored and logged

Security-relevant events are recorded, retained and reviewed so unusual activity can be investigated quickly.

Backed up and resilient

Critical data is backed up regularly and protected like production, with processes to restore service after a disruption.

Hosted where you need it

UK clinics are hosted in the UK by default; deployment in other regions, including the UAE, is available on request with the same protections.

Connected to your systems

Capra connects to the record, calendar, accounting, messaging and claims systems you already run; integrations are built with you during onboarding.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Does Capra invoice Bupa, AXA, Aviva and Vitality through Healthcode?

Yes. Insurer invoices for the insurers your practice works with are submitted to Healthcode from the patient record, and the status of each one comes back to the record, so reception sees what has been received, queried or paid without leaving Capra.

Do we keep our Healthcode account?

Yes. Your practice keeps its own Healthcode account and relationship; Capra connects to it so invoices are submitted on your behalf from the record and your team works from one place.

What about self-pay invoices?

Self-pay invoices, deposits and packages are raised on the same record and reconcile to Xero or your accounting package, so insurer and self-pay revenue are reported side by side per clinician.

Is the connection two-way?

Yes. Invoices and their details go out to Healthcode, and acknowledgements, queries and payment status come back to the invoice on the record.

Who builds and supports the Healthcode connection?

Capra's own team. A named onboarding lead scopes the connection with you, builds and tests it against your data, and stays your contact after go-live, with human support in UK and UAE hours.

How is the Healthcode connection secured?

Data moves over encrypted connections, access to the connection follows roles, and every exchange is written to the audit trail, like every other part of the platform. The practices behind that, from encryption to backups, are described in full on our security page.

What happens if Healthcode is unavailable?

Capra keeps working on its own data and queues what needs to be sent. When Healthcode is reachable again, the queued updates are delivered and logged, and your team can see in the audit trail exactly what moved and when.
